Deep pelvic infiltrating endometriosis: MRI consensus lexicon and compartment-based approach from the ENDOVALIRM group

Pascal Rousset et al.

Summary: The purpose of this consensus article was to develop guidelines for the interpretation and reporting of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Consensus was reached on pelvic compartment delineation and reporting template using the RAND-UCLA Appropriateness Method. A tailored MRI lexicon and standardized region-based report were proposed.

Non-invasive diagnosis of endometriosis: Immunologic and genetic markers

Seyed Moein Mahini et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a gynecologic and inflammatory disease characterized by endometrial tissue growing outside the uterus, leading to pelvic pain and infertility. It affects around 10% of females, causing a significant socioeconomic burden and impacting daily quality of life. Diagnosis is often delayed due to the lack of specific symptoms and accessible bio-markers. Recent research has focused on reliable bio-markers including immune cells, antibodies, cytokines, genetic markers, biochemical markers, hormones, glycoproteins, and signaling molecules. However, further studies are needed to establish the role of these markers in the diagnosis, progression, and staging of endometrial lesions.

Immunopathogenesis of endometriosis: An overview of the role of innate and adaptive immune cells and their mediators

Maryam Zare Moghaddam et al.

Summary: This article reviews the role and mechanisms of the immune system in endometriosis. In the early stages of the disease, neutrophils and macrophages produce inflammatory mediators, promoting the development of endometriosis. With increased inflammation, the body produces remodeling and anti-inflammatory factors to transition the inflammatory environment into a non-inflammatory environment, facilitating disease progression. Environmental conditions also induce immune cell differentiation and the production of angiogenic and immunosuppressive factors, further driving the disease.

The Role of the Immune System in the Development of Endometriosis

Monika Abramiuk et al.

Summary: Endometriosis is a common chronic disease that affects a significant number of women of reproductive age. Dysfunction of the immune system is found to be an important factor in its development, with immune cells playing a crucial role in the formation and progression of the lesions.

ESHRE guideline: endometriosis

Christian M. Becker et al.

Summary: This guideline provides clinicians with evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. It covers various aspects including diagnosis, treatment of pain symptoms, management of infertility, and discusses different treatment options. Despite some limitations, this guideline is important for improving the care of patients with endometriosis.

Endometriosis Cell Proliferation Induced by Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Peng Chen et al.

Summary: Bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMDCs) indirectly promote the growth and cell proliferation of endometriotic lesions by secreting specific signaling molecules. These cells may stimulate the proliferation of endometrial cells by inducing activation of CDK1.
