Antibacterial activity of recently approved antibiotics against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Fei Liu et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis examined the in vitro activity of recently approved antibiotics against MRSA isolates. The results showed that telavancin, dalbavancin, oritavancin, and tedizolid had potent antibacterial activity against MRSA isolates, suggesting their potential as useful antibiotics for treating MRSA infections.

Complement Inactivation Strategy of Staphylococcus aureus Using Decay-Accelerating Factor and the Response of Infected HaCaT Cells

Kyoung Ok Jang et al.

Summary: Staphylococcus aureus proliferates internally in host cells through internalization and evasion of the host immune system, eventually being released through induction of cell death. Infected host cells increase specific surface protein expression to inform immune cells of the infection.

Within-Host Adaptation of Staphylococcus aureus in a Bovine Mastitis Infection Is Associated with Increased Cytotoxicity

Katharina Mayer et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adaptive processes of Staphylococcus aureus during chronic, persistent bovine mastitis, highlighting the increased cytotoxicity and improved capacity for tissue penetration in host-adapted isolates. The results suggest that within-host evolved SigB-deficiency favors extracellular persistence in S. aureus infections, providing new insights into adaptive strategies employed by the pathogen in chronic bovine mastitis.
