Construction of core-shell MOF@hydroxide hybrids with strong hetero-interface interaction for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Dianjun Chi et al.

Summary: Metal-organic framework (MOF)-based photocatalysts have gained attention as a solution to reduce energy-related problems. In this study, a defective NH2-MIL-125@Ni (OH)(2) photocatalyst was synthesized by etching the NH2-MIL-125 with Ni2+. The introduction of defects increased the number of active sites, and the Ni (OH)(2) cocatalyst enhanced the separation efficiency of photo-generated electron-hole pairs. Under visible light for 4 hours, the H-2 production rate reached 502.32 mmol g(-1).

N-doped rutile TiO2 nanorod@g-C3N4 core/shell S-scheme heterojunctions for boosting CO2 photoreduction activity

Haohui Gu et al.

Summary: The synthesis of NT@CN core/shell structure S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was achieved by uniformly growing graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) on the surface of nitrogen-doped rutile TiO2 (NT) nanorods. The as-synthesized heterojunction with 55 wt% g-C3N4 showed the highest CO2 photoreduction activity (33.35 μmol g(-1) for CO) without additional cocatalysts or external sacrificial agents, which was 7.1 times higher than that of bare NT nanorods. This improvement was attributed to the large surface area and impactful S-scheme heterostructure, enabling sufficient visible-light harvesting ability, segregation and transformation of charge pairs, and enhanced redox ability of carriers. Furthermore, the NT@CN photocatalyst displayed excellent reusability and stability. This work provides a new foundation for designing and preparing rutile TiO2-based S-scheme heterojunctions with enhanced CO2 reduction performance.

Hui Li et al.

Summary: The g-C3N4/Er:CdSe/SiO2 ternary core-shell heterojunction exhibits remarkable enhancement in visible light photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and photodegradation of tetracycline hydrochloride. This is mainly attributed to the optical lens effect of SiO2 spheres, the up-conversion fluorescence of Er-doping, and the improved carrier efficiency of the g-C3N4/Er:CdSe heterojunction. Moreover, the ternary core-shell spheroidal structure increases active sites and photocatalytic stability.
