Electrochemical hydrogen storage properties of mechanically alloyed Mg0.8Ti0.2-xMnxNi (x 1/4 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1) type alloys

Nilufer Kucukdeveci et al.

Summary: Mechanical alloying was used to synthesize Mg0.8Ti0.2-xMnxNi quaternary alloys, with the addition of a small amount of Mn resulting in an amorphous structure and affecting the electrochemical performance. The Mg0.8Ti0.175Mn0.025Ni alloy showed the highest discharge capacity at the initial charge/discharge cycle.

Study of hydrogen storage properties of oxygen modified Ti- based AB2 type metal hydride alloy

M. W. Davids et al.

Summary: The study investigated a multi-component AB(2) type hydrogen storage intermetallic alloy, where the addition of oxygen did not significantly change the PCT properties but slightly increased the plateau pressure. Both AB(2) and AB(2)O(0.05) alloys were found to be excellent candidates for H-2 storage, with the addition of oxygen improving hydrogen absorption kinetics in the AB(2) alloy.

Summary: Vacuum induction melting was used to fabricate Mg50-xTixNi45Al3Co2 composites protected by high-purity helium, followed by surface modification with nickel coating. Ball milling was employed to prepare amorphous and nanocrystalline Mg50-xTixNi45Al3Co2 hydrogen storing alloys, showing enhanced electrochemical properties with increased Ti content and milling duration. The alloys exhibited excellent discharge capacity and cyclic steadiness, indicating potential for battery applications.

Promoting the cycling stability of amorphous MgNi-based alloy electrodes by mitigating hydrogen-induced crystallization

Peng Li et al.

Summary: The addition of In and Al to MgNi-based amorphous alloy can improve the crystallization temperature of the amorphous phase and hinder the formation of crystalline hydride, leading to enhanced cycling performance. Therefore, optimizing the alloy composition is crucial for improving the performance of MgNi-based alloys, and multi-component composition is beneficial for enhancing their structural and cyclic stability.
