Spinnability and characterization of poly(D-lactic acid)-blended poly(L-lactic acid) filament yarns

Summary: This study investigates the blending of poly(D-lactic acid) (PDLA) into poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) as a method to reduce the highly crystalline morphology and rigidity of the polyester. Increasing the amount of PDLA decreased the number of crystalline regions in both compounds and filament yarns, while also increasing the rigidity of the filament yarns.

Effect of Opuntia ficus-indica Mucilage Edible Coating in Combination with Ascorbic Acid, on Strawberry Fruit Quality during Cold Storage

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of edible coating using Opuntia mucilage combined with ascorbic acid on strawberry fruit quality, sensorial parameters, and microbiological characteristics during cold storage. The results showed that the coating led to a decrease in weight loss, an increase in ascorbic acid content, and improved visual quality and sensorial analysis. Although the coating did not inhibit microbial growth, it significantly limited their development in coated strawberry fruits, suggesting a useful biochemical approach to extending postharvest life of strawberries.
