Effect of iron ion configurations on Ni2+ removal in electrocoagulation

Xiaoliu Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel process of sinusoidal alternating current electrocoagulation (SACC) was adopted to remove Ni2+ in wastewater. The morphology of precipitates and the distribution of the main functional iron configurations were investigated. Fe(b) and Fe(c) were found to be the main iron configurations in the solution, and SACC achieved a Ni2+ removal efficiency of 99.56% under the optimal operating conditions.

Optimisation of process parameters using response surface methodology to improve the liquid fraction yield from pyrolysis of water hyacinth

Obianuju Patience Ilo et al.

Summary: The water hyacinth is a persistent threat to sustainability and requires cost-effective mitigation measures. The study optimized the process parameters, specifically temperature and particle size, to improve the liquid fraction yield from the pyrolysis of water hyacinths. Increased temperature and particle size led to a higher liquid fraction and lower char content. The study emphasizes the potential socio-economic and environmental benefits of utilizing water hyacinths and hopes to inform policy discussions.

Treatment of industrial electroplating wastewater for metals removal via electrocoagulation continous flow reactors

Hussein I. Abdel-Shafy et al.

Summary: This study examined the treatment of real industrial electroplating rinsing wastewater using chemical coagulation and electrocoagulation techniques. The results showed that a combination of lime and ferric chloride achieved optimal removal rate. When a continuous flow reactor was used, the removal rate of metals increased significantly. The treated wastewater met the environmental regulations and could be reused.

Response surface methodology-based modeling and optimization of chromium removal using spiral-wound reverse-osmosis membrane setup

A. Karunakaran et al.

Summary: This study confirmed the effectiveness of using reverse osmosis membranes to treat chromium-contaminated aqueous solutions, and investigated the effects of operating conditions on chromium removal and permeate flux. Experimental results showed that efficient chromium removal and high permeate flux can be achieved under certain optimal operating conditions.
