Non-presentation at hospital following a suicide attempt: a national survey

Fabrice Jollant et al.

Summary: A national survey in France revealed that a significant proportion of individuals do not seek hospitalization or receive professional healthcare services following a suicide attempt. Even among those who do not go to the hospital, only a small percentage of them choose to visit a doctor or psychologist. The prevalence of suicide attempts reported in the community is much higher than that recorded in hospital administrative databases.

The Role of Emotion Regulation in Eating Disorders: A Network Meta-Analysis Approach

Jenni Leppanen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that rumination and non-acceptance of emotions are most closely associated with eating disorder psychopathology. Additionally, the associations between different emotion regulation strategies and symptomatology were weaker among patients with low BMI, suggesting a complex relationship between ED behaviors and emotion regulation. The findings call for interventions targeting emotion regulation, specifically rumination and difficulties accepting emotions, in the treatment of eating disorders.

Danielle Clark Bryan et al.

Summary: This study explores the experiences and perspectives of patients and carers during the transition process from intensive treatment for anorexia nervosa to the community. Emotion dysregulation and suicidality in eating disorders

Marianna Rania et al.

Summary: Findings suggest that emotion dysregulation is associated with suicidality in individuals with eating disorders, even after adjusting for the effects of eating disorder psychopathology and current depression. Emotion dysregulation may represent a risk trait for future suicidality across different eating disorder subtypes, supporting the need to address emotion dysregulation in treatment to reduce suicidality.

Time Course of Relapse Following Acute Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa

B. Timothy Walsh et al.

Summary: The study found that after weight restoration, the risk of relapse for anorexia nervosa patients immediately increased upon entry into the study, peaked around 60 days, and then gradually declined. This suggests the need for close follow-up and relapse prevention-focused treatment in the first few months after discharge from acute care.
