Characteristics and ethylene encapsulation properties of V-type linear dextrin with different degrees of polymerisation

Zhanpeng Liu et al.

Summary: This research investigated the effects of preparation method on V-type linear dextrin, finding that samples prepared by anti-solvent precipitation had a higher percentage of V-type structure and slower ethylene release rate. Therefore, a higher V-type structure content was beneficial for encapsulation of gaseous molecules.

Combined molecular and supramolecular structural insights into pasting behaviors of starches isolated from native and germinated waxy brown rice

Xingli Liu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of germination on the molecular and supramolecular structures and pasting behaviors of starches. The results showed that germination treatment led to a decrease in the characteristic viscosity of starch due to starch chain degradation and structural amorphization.

Effect of chain length on the structure and physicochemical properties of active compound/linear dextrin composites

Wei Zhan et al.

Summary: By encapsulating arachidonic acid and geranic acid with linear dextrins of different chain lengths, the release behavior, thermal, photochemical, and antioxidant abilities of the acids were enhanced. Longer chain linear dextrins exhibited better encapsulation efficiency with longer chain arachidonic acid, while shorter chain linear dextrins demonstrated higher encapsulation capability with geranic acid.

Optimal loading of omecamtiv mecarbil by chitosan: A comprehensive and comparative molecular dynamics study

Maryam Mansoori Kermani et al.

Summary: Biodegradable carbohydrate polymers are efficient materials in the pharmaceutical industry. The study investigated the effect of chitosan chains on the encapsulation of omecamtiv mecarbil drug and found that water molecules provide more effective drug interactions than chitosan. Higher temperature and presence of water molecules decreased the interactions between chitosan and the drug.

Functional Properties and Structural Characteristics of Starch-Fatty Acid Complexes Prepared at High Temperature

Qi Li et al.

Summary: The study revealed that fatty acids with a shorter carbon chain or a greater number of double bonds contributed to the formation of V-type starch-lipid complexes, and starch-unsaturated fatty acid complexes prepared at high temperature showed better thermostability, strong positive correlation with resistant starch contents and melting temperatures.

Formation and characterization of debranched starch-alcohol complexes with six aliphatic alcohols

Hao Lu et al.

Summary: Starch-lipid V-type complexes have been found to form between debranched starch (DBS) and six different aliphatic alcohols. As the carbon chain length of the alcohols increases, the peak melting temperature and relative crystallinity of the complexes also increase.

Molecular simulation, characteristics and mechanism of thermal-responsive acetylated amylose V-type helical complexes†

Peng Tang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the thermal-responsive characteristics and binding energy of acetylated amylose-guest V-type helical complexes through molecular dynamic simulation and experiments. Different types or numbers of guests can affect the thermal responsiveness of the complexes. This research provides theoretical guidance for designing thermal-responsive drug carriers based on these complexes.

Using geometric criteria to study helix-like structures produced in molecular dynamics simulations of single amylose chains in water

Mohammad Hassan Khatami et al.

Summary: Amylose chains form helix-like structures with imperfect H-bond patterns in water, despite the instability of perfectly H-bonded helices in pure water. Molecular dynamics simulations reveal short and long time helix-breaking mechanisms such as band-flips and kinks in the chain. Defining imperfect helices geometrically offers new insight into the secondary structure of single amylose chains.
