Rheological properties and decomposition rates of Gellan gum/hyaluronic acid/β-tricalcium phosphate mixtures

Abdullah Baawad et al.

Summary: The effects of beta-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) on the rheological properties and decomposition rates of a mixture of low acyl gellan gum (LA-GAGR) and hyaluronic acid (HA) were investigated. The results showed that all tested mixture samples exhibited typical viscoelastic behaviors, with the sample containing 1.0% TCP and 0.30% LA-GAGR having the highest viscosity and storage moduli, as well as the lowest decomposition rate. High concentrations of LA-GAGR and TCP increased the cross-linking of the polysaccharides, resulting in a more elastic and less fluidic mixture with slower decomposition rate. The samples prepared by gradual mixing showed slower decomposition rates compared to the sample prepared by sudden mixing.
