Catalytic behavior and antibacterial/antifungal activities of new MNPs/zeolite@alginate composite beads

Amel Mekki et al.

Summary: In this study, a new family of composite materials consisting of calcium alginate and metal nanoparticle-loaded zeolite omega was prepared. These composite materials showed excellent catalytic reduction performance of methylene blue dye and also exhibited antibacterial and antifungal activities. Various characterization techniques were used to analyze the samples, and the composite Co/Zeolite@ALG with a low Co nanoparticle content was found to be the best performing catalyst. The reuse tests showed good results, and the Cu/Zeolite@ALG and Fe/Zeolite@ALG composites exhibited significant inhibition zones. This research is of great importance for the development of new composite materials with catalytic and antibacterial/antifungal properties.

Silver nanoparticles supported on smart polymer microgel system for highly proficient catalytic reduction of Cr+6 to Cr+3 with formic acid

Iftikhar Hussain et al.

Summary: Poly(styrene@N-isopropylmethacrylamide-methacrylic acid) [P(St-NM)] microgels were prepared via a seed facilitated emulsion polymerization process, with Ag nanoparticles generated in the voids of the shell region. The stability of Ag nanoparticles within P(St-NM) system and the catalytic efficiency of Ag-P(St-NM) in reducing K2Cr2O7 were studied. Factors affecting the catalytic efficiency of Ag-P(St-NM) in transforming Cr+6 to Cr+3 were also investigated.
