Structural characterization of a P-selectin and EGFR dual-targeting fucoidan from Sargassum fusiforme

Summary: In this study, four different fucoidans were obtained from different types of seaweed and used to prepare chitosan/fucoidan nanoparticles. It was found that SFP and SHP exhibited strong binding abilities to P-selectin and EGFR. Further analysis revealed that SFP mainly consisted of galactose and fucose, with sulfated branches.

Summary: This study demonstrates that supplementing Mesona chinensis Benth polysaccharide (MP) can protect the liver from cyclophosphamide-induced damage and modulate the composition of the gut microbiota. MP supplementation inhibits liver inflammation, enhances antioxidant capacity, repairs liver damage, and alters the levels of short chain fatty acids and lipopolysaccharide in the gut.

Structural characterization and effect on leukopenia of fucoidan from Durvillaea antarctica

Summary: A novel fucoidan (F-4) was extracted and purified from Durvillaea antarctica, characterized by its sulfated polysaccharide structure mainly composed of fucose, galactose, and glucose. F-4 showed the ability to promote leukocyte growth in a mouse model induced by cyclophosphamide, possibly through activation of hematopoietic progenitor cells and regulation of bone marrow hematopoietic microenvironment.

Summary: In this study, cationic polymer-coated Alhagi honey polysaccharide-encapsulated PLGA nanoparticles were developed as positively charged antigen carriers. Among these carriers, the H5N1-loaded PEI-AHPP formulation showed the highest immune response induction. The findings suggest that PEI-AHPP has the potential to be an effective adjuvant for strong and long-lasting mixed immune responses.

The structure of fucoidan from Sargassum oligocystum and radiosensitizing activity of galactofucans from some algae of genus Sargassum

Summary: This study aimed to characterize the fine structure of fucoidan from Sargassum oligocystum and investigate the radiosensitizing effect of fucoidans from three different Sargassum algae species. It was found that fucoidan from S. feldmannii showed the most promising radiosensitizing effect against human colon and breast cancer cells.
