Reduction entropy generation and condensation by NaCl particle injection in wet steam supersonic nozzle

Guojie Zhang et al.

Summary: This research focuses on the numerical study of the effect of steam impurities, specifically salt particles, on non-equilibrium condensation phenomenon. The results show that the presence of salt particles significantly impacts two-phase variables and flow parameters, reducing water droplet production and entropy generation. The findings confirm that steam impurities have a significant effect on non-equilibrium condensation.

The best angle of hot steam injection holes in the 3D steam turbine blade cascade

Amir Kafaei et al.

Summary: In order to enhance the efficiency of steam turbines, injecting hot steam between the blades in a 3D manner was studied in this paper. The optimal angle for injection holes was found to be -60 degrees, resulting in reductions of 40% in liquid mass fraction, 22% in condensation loss, and 1% in kinetic energy. The economic cost was calculated at 0.56 ($/hour) with a hot steam injection hole size of 0.07.

A blackbox optimization of volumetric heating rate for reducing the wetness of the steam flow through turbine blades

Davood Hoseinzade et al.

Summary: This paper proposes using blackbox optimization to obtain the optimal volumetric heating required to reduce wetness at the last stages of steam turbines, achieving improved turbine performance by optimizing the volumetric heating rate. The numerical results show that the optimal rate can significantly enhance turbine performance by improving droplet number and average radius.

Summary: The study focuses on thermodynamic modeling and multi-objective optimization of a new multigeneration energy system utilizing geothermal energy. It introduces the usage of a thermoelectric system for low temperature heat recovery and the advantages of multi-product utilization. Exergy and exergoeconomic analysis were conducted, revealing the components responsible for the exergy destruction and associated costs. Through parametric analysis and multi-criteria optimization, reduction in unit cost of product and increase in exergy efficiency were achieved.

Repetitive tip convective transport and its flow physics in a large-scale turbine cascade

J. S. Jeong et al.

Summary: Research indicates that repetitive convective transport over the flat tip of a turbine blade causes changes in thermal load and aerodynamic loss, with wider tip gaps leading to more severe thermal load variations. The regularity of thermal load changes differs depending on the size of the tip gap.
