The design of special woven-preformed structures for the high-performance film cooling with undamaged fibers based on 2.5D ceramic matrix composites

Chenwei Zhao et al.

Summary: This study proposes a design-manufacturing integration method for improving the film cooling performance of 2.5D woven ceramic matrix composites, which control thermal stress by achieving film holes without damaged fibers and incorporating special structures of woven-preformed holes. The method significantly enhances cooling effectiveness and reduces thermal stress in the corresponding area by inducing specific Vortex Pair structures and avoiding temperature differences between yarn and matrix.

Thermal-mechanical-oxidation coupled first matrix cracking stress model for fiber reinforced ceramic-matrix composites

Yong Deng et al.

Summary: This research investigates the combined influence of residual thermal stress, interface debonding and oxidation, and temperature on the first matrix cracking stress of fiber reinforced ceramic-matrix composites. A thermal-mechanical-oxidation coupled first matrix cracking stress model is proposed and validated with experimental results, offering a quantitative tool for evaluating the matrix cracking behavior of FRCMCs.

Experimental study of the anisotropic thermal conductivity of 2D carbon-fiber/epoxy woven composites

Hu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study measured the anisotropic thermal conductivities of carbon-fiber/epoxy composites, comparing results obtained using three different methods. The research found that the thermal conductivity of the materials increased with temperature, with the in-plane thermal conductivity approximately four times higher than the out-of-plane thermal conductivity for plain woven composites. The sources of error leading to deviations in the measurements were also discussed.
