Fabrication of solar-driven Zn2SnO4/g-C3N4 photocatalyst with enhanced photocatalytic performance for norfloxacin

A solar-driven Zn2SnO4/g-C3N4 composite photocatalyst was synthesized and characterized. The photocatalyst showed enhanced performance for norfloxacin degradation under visible light compared to Zn2SnO4 and g-C3N4. The Z-scheme migration pattern is proposed as the reason for the improved photocatalytic efficiency.
In this work, a solar-driven Zn2SnO4/g-C3N4 (ZSCN) composite photocatalyst was fabricated via ultrasonic assisted hydrothermal approach and characterized by multiple techniques. Norfloxacin (NOR) was selected as the target to appraise the performance of the photocatalyst samples under visible light. The 40ZSCN sample elim-inated 96 % of NOR (20 mg/L) within 3 h, which is 1.8 times of Zn2SnO4 (ZSO) and 2.7 times of g-C3N4 (CN). Moreover, 87 % of the NOR was removed after five cyclic photocatalytic processes. The reason for photocatalytic performance enhanced can be inferred that the Z-scheme migration pattern diminished the recombination ef-ficiency of the photoinduced electron-hole pairs.
