Electrochemically Enabled Direct C3-Formylation of Imidazopyridines with Me3N as a Carbonyl Source

Zhicong Tang et al.

Summary: A metal-free and oxidant-free electrochemical strategy using trimethylamine as a one-carbon source has been developed for C-3 formylation of imidazopyridines. This reaction shows high compatibility with various functional groups under mild conditions and allows late-stage functionalization of pharmaceutical molecules. Unexpected hexafluoroisopropoxylation products have also been observed in some cases. Mechanistic studies using cyclic voltammetry and control experiments reveal the key intermediate of the formylation process.

Liquid Based Circularly Polarized Phosphorescence of a Chiral Schiff Base Platinum(II) Complex Bearing Polyethylene Glycol Chains

Masahiro Ikeshita et al.

Summary: A chiral Schiff base platinum(II) complex 1 with polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains was synthesized, melting at 44 degrees C, while its non-substituted analogue 2 had a high melting point (>300 degrees C). Upon cooling after melting, the complex remained liquid at room temperature over 30 minutes and exhibited yellow phosphorescence. Circularly polarized phosphorescence (CPP) properties were examined, showing a significant increase in the absolute value of the luminescence dissymmetry factor (g(lum)) in the liquid state compared to the dilute solution state. This is the first example of CPP from solvent-free supercooled liquids.

Symmetrical Pd(II) and Ni(II) Schiff base complexes: Synthesis, crystal structure determination, spectral characterization, and theoretical studies

Mehdi Fallah-Mehrjardi et al.

Summary: New palladium(II) and nickel(II) complexes of symmetrical Schiff base ligand derived from 4,5-dimethyl-o-phenylenediamine were prepared and their molecular structures were investigated using elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods. The crystal structure analysis revealed that the coordination environment of nickel in the NiL complex is tetra-coordinate with slightly distorted square planar geometry. Hirshfeld surface investigation provided further understanding of the intermolecular interactions, and theoretical calculations supported the experimental findings.

Synthesis, spectral characterization, and theoretical investigation of Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes incorporating symmetrical tetradentate Schiff base ligand: Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction using PdLSym

Hadi Kargar et al.

Summary: In this study, a symmetric ONNO-tetradentate chelating ligand (H2LSym) was utilized to prepare stable Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes, the molecular structures of which were characterized using FT-IR, NMR, and CHN techniques. The ligand was found to coordinate via phenolic oxygen and imine nitrogen atoms. The catalytic potential of the palladium complex for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions was explored.
