Enhanced Photocatalytic and Photokilling Activities of Cu-Doped TiO2 Nanoparticles

Yumatorn Mingmongkol et al.

Summary: In this study, metal-doped titanium dioxide was synthesized to improve photocatalytic degradation and antimicrobial activities. The copper-doped TiO2 nanoparticles showed well-maintained anatase phase and a decreased band gap. The 0.1 wt.% Cu-doped TiO2 exhibited enhanced photocatalytic degradation and antibacterial ability, while the high Cu doping levels had negative impacts on surface charge and charge transfer.

Visible light-driven photodegradation of triclosan and antimicrobial activity against Legionella pneumophila with cobalt and nitrogen co-doped TiO2 anatase nanoparticles

O. Ferreira et al.

Summary: Cobalt and nitrogen co-doped anatase nano-catalysts have shown efficient degradation of the waterborne pollutant triclosan under both UV and visible light, with antibacterial activity under UV-A light as well. The synthesized Co-TiO2-N catalyst exhibited the best photocatalytic activity, achieving nearly complete degradation of TCS in 20 minutes under UV and Vis LED lights. Additionally, the cobalt-doped catalysts demonstrated promising antibacterial effects against waterborne pathogens, highlighting their potential for water decontamination.

N/Fe/Zn co-doped TiO2 loaded on basalt fiber with enhanced photocatalytic activity for organic pollutant degradation

Lingxiao Yang et al.

Summary: Co-doped TiO2@BF material N/Fe/Zn_TiO2@BF was synthesized by incorporating nitrogen, iron, and zinc elements, demonstrating 4.3 times higher efficiency in degrading RhB compared to TiO2@BF. The photocatalytic reaction mainly involves photoinduced holes, superoxide radicals, and hydroxyl radicals according to quenching experiments.
