A Persistent Phosphanyl-Substituted Thioketyl Radical Anion

Lilian Sophie Szych et al.

Summary: In this study, alkali metal salts containing stable thioketyl radical anions at room temperature were synthesized by reducing the precursors with alkali metals. The existences of thioketyl radical anions in solid and solution states were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray studies and EPR spectroscopy, respectively. An activation reaction was observed, resulting in the formation of a potassium salt with a phosphanyl thioether based anion.

Insertion of CS2 into a Phosphorus-Arsenic Single Bond and Investigations on Phosphane Arsanyldithiocarboxylates

Jonas Bresien et al.

Summary: The synthesis and reactivity of sterically demanding phosphaarsanes were described in this study, with a new structural motif phosphane arsanyldithiocarboxylate being discovered. An alternative synthetic route was reported to enable access to a wider range of phosphane arsanyldithiocarboxylates. The interpnictogen dithiocarboxylates showed an interesting bonding situation with significantly elongated As-S bond due to negative hyperconjugation within the molecule.

Radical-initiated P,P-metathesis reactions of diphosphanes: evidence from experimental and computational studies

Callum Branfoot et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the rapid occurrence of P,P-metathesis under ambient conditions by utilizing diphosphanes. DFT calculations show that the stability of unsymmetrical diphosphanes is influenced by the difference in substituents' size and electronegativity. Experimental observations, such as the effect of photolysis and TEMPO on the reaction rate, support a radical chain process.
