Synthesis of perovskite-type potassium niobate using deep eutectic solvents: A promising electrode material for detection of bisphenol A

Summary: This study presents a hydrothermal method to prepare perovskite-type potassium niobate (KNbO3) using a deep eutectic solvent (DES), which is utilized as an electrode material for the determination of bisphenol A (BPA). The synthesized KNbO3 is characterized by different microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. The KNbO3-modified electrode exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity for BPA due to its active sites, large electrochemical surface area, high electrical conductivity, and rapid electron transfer. The fabricated sensor shows a wide detection range, low limit of detection, high sensitivity, and good anti-interference abilities, and it is successfully applied to determine BPA in food samples, demonstrating its practicality. This design provides a new approach to fabricate efficient electrode materials for various electrochemical applications using a DES medium.

Layered metal chalcogenide of SnSe nanosheets integrated with 2D-hex- agonal boron nitride for accurate and low-level detection of nitrofurazone

However, the uncontrolled utilization and disposal of the antibiotic nitrofurazone (NF) have caused serious ecological issues. Therefore, a sensitive electrochemical method using tin selenide (SnSe) integrated with hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) as an electrode material for the real-time and low-level detection of NF has been developed. The SnSe/h-BN electrode demonstrates excellent electrochemical activity, dual linear ranges, a low limit of detection, and high sensitivity, making it feasible for the rapid and real-time analysis of NF in water and urine samples.

An efficient removal approach for degradation of metformin from aqueous solutions with sulfate radicals

Summary: This study aims to analyze the performance of advanced oxidation processes using sulfate radicals in the degradation of metformin from water. The degradation percentages ranged from 26.1% to 87.3%, while the mineralization percentages varied between 15.1% and 64%. The input variables of initial metformin concentration, oxidant concentration, and temperature had significant effects on the degradation process. Three degradation pathways were proposed based on the analysis of the detected byproducts, and it was found that the toxicity of the degradation byproducts was generally lower than that of metformin.
