Production of bioactive compounds from callus of Pueraria thomsonii Benth with promising cytotoxic and antibacterial activities

Yu Li et al.

Summary: Pueraria thomsonii is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years. Chemical investigation of its callus culture revealed the presence of bioactive compounds with significant cytotoxicity and antibacterial activities. Among these compounds, p-coumaric acid ethyl ester exhibited strong cytotoxicity against cancer cell lines and inhibited the growth of several bacteria. These findings suggest that Pueraria thomsonii compounds have potential applications in cancer treatment and combating bacterial infections.
