To have or not to have: expression of amino acid transporters during pathogen infection

Laura Tunnermann et al.

Summary: The interaction between plants and plant pathogens has significant effects on ecosystem performance, and this interaction is complex and dynamic. Both plants and pathogens rely on amino acids for their growth and development, but they obtain them through different means. Plants also initiate an immune response to restrict pathogen invasion. The regulation of amino acid transporters may determine the fate of both plants and pathogens, but the underlying mechanism is currently unknown.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expressional Profiling of the Metal Tolerance Protein Gene Family in Brassica napus

Tao Xie et al.

Summary: Through bioinformatic analyses, researchers identified 33 BnMTP genes in rapeseed, which were classified into three major clusters and seven groups. Evolutionary analysis indicated that the BnMTP gene family mainly expanded through whole-genome duplication and segmental duplication events. Predictions suggested that BnMTPs might be involved in plant growth, development, and stress responses.

Molecular evolutionary analysis of the SHI/STY gene family in land plants: A focus on the Brassica species

Da Fang et al.

Summary: The SHI/STY genes were classified into four clades with similar motif distribution and gene structure within each clade. SHI/STY proteins are predicted to be localized in the nucleus. The promoters of SHI/STY genes contain different types of cis-elements, suggesting their involvement in various biological processes.

Genome-wide analysis of the apple CaCA superfamily reveals that MdCAX proteins are involved in the abiotic stress response as calcium transporters

Ke Mao et al.

Summary: The study identified 21 CaCA family proteins in apple for the first time, classified into four groups: CAX, CCX, NCL, and MHX. Expression analysis, collinearity analysis, and characterization of calcium transport capacity revealed a strong response to calcium and abiotic stress treatments, as well as a pair of segmental duplication genes MdCAX3L-1 and MdCAX3L-2 with significant differences in calcium transport capacity. Yeast two-hybrid assays demonstrated that these two proteins could interact with each other.

Promoter profiling of Arabidopsis amino acid transporters: clues for improving crops

Pinky Dhatterwal et al.

Summary: The Arabidopsis thaliana genome contains more than 100 amino acid transporter genes, indicating their importance in plant growth and development. While the functionality of many of these genes remains unexplored, analyzing their promoter regions for regulatory motifs can help predict their responses to external stimuli in different tissues and developmental stages. This information could be valuable for identifying potential candidates for agricultural benefits.
