K+ located in 6-membered rings of low-silica CHA enhancing the lifetime and propene selectivity in MTO

Jingyan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the development of a low-cost and environmentally friendly MTO catalyst from low-silica CHA zeolite, balancing its moderate acidity and reaction space by tuning residual K+ cations. Various characterization techniques were used to assess the structure-dependent catalytic performances, showing that the pore volume and specific surface area increased substantially after K+ cations were exchanged. The location and exchange level of K+ ions were found to regulate the amount and strength of acid sites, impacting the catalytic performance of the CHA zeolite in MTO conversion reactions.
