Synthesis of LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide as a Cathode Material for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Hongting Liu et al.

Summary: A supercritical carbonation method for preparing lithium-ion battery precursor (Ni0.6Co0.2Mn0.2CO3) is proposed, which can achieve a desirable stoichiometry of transition metal ratio with appropriate reaction conditions. The precursor synthesis time plays a significant role in improving the battery performance, resulting in a more stable layered structure, higher electrochemical reversibility, and lower impedance. The battery made of the precursor prepared under the best synthesis conditions exhibits high discharge capacity and capacity retention.

Cesium-doped layered Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 cathodes with enhanced electrochemical performance

Lishuang Xu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the introduction of Cs ions into the Li layer improves the electrochemical performance of lithium-rich layered cathode materials, especially in terms of rate capability, discharge capacity, and cycling stability. Cs doping facilitates Li+ diffusion paths, reduces energy barriers, stabilizes crystal structure, and alleviates phase transitions, resulting in better overall electrochemical performance.
