An inventory model for a three-stage supply chain with random capacities considering disruptions and supplier reliability

Summary: This study develops an inventory model that addresses supply uncertainty, while considering random inventory, delivery capacities, and supplier's reliability. By using a genetic algorithm, the optimal solution is found to maximize average profit in each cycle. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to enhance understanding of the developed model.

Heuristics for setting reorder levels in periodic review inventory systems with an aggregate service constraint

Summary: Inventory managers are responsible for balancing inventory holding costs and customer service in a periodic review multi-item inventory system. The definition of aggregate service can greatly affect system performance, so careful consideration is necessary. Four heuristics for determining reorder levels were derived and evaluated using simulation and data from a large international reseller, with the most accurate approximation performing best and generating significant savings compared to no service level differentiation.
