Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Symmetry on Evaporation Triggered Elastocapillary Top-Gathering of High Aspect Ratio Micropillars

Summary: High-aspect-ratio (HAR) micropillar arrays have various applications due to their large surface area and excellent mechanical compliance. However, they are prone to lateral deflection by elastocapillary forces in liquid environments, limiting their manufacturing processes and applications. This study numerically investigated the impact of symmetry on evaporation triggered top-gathering of micropillars, and suggested a new equation for calculating micropillar deflection due to elastocapillary forces. The study also explored the effect of droplet evaporation on micropillar deflection/top-gathering.

A Novel High Energy Efficiency Dual-Channel Microwave Plasma Jet Using Strip Line

Summary: A device for dual-channel plasma jets, designed based on strip line, is proposed using electromagnetic theory and DRUDE model. Experimental results show that the device is highly efficient in processing argon gas and the measured reflected power is in good agreement with simulation results.
