Selection of efficient degradation features for rolling element bearing prognosis using Gaussian Process Regression method

Prem Shankar Kumar et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a prediction model for rolling element bearing fault or degradation trends using GPR, analyzing various kernel functions and introducing a hybrid metric for feature selection. The findings suggest that entropy features outperform statistical features in predicting bearing degradation trends.

Theoretical and Experimental Investigations on Spectral Lp/Lq Norm Ratio and Spectral Gini Index for Rotating Machine Health Monitoring

Dong Wang et al.

Summary: Prognostics and health management of rotating machines aim to use monitoring data to infer health conditions, with health indices being the basis. Spectral Lp/Lq norm ratio and spectral Gini index are popular health indices characterizing impulsiveness caused by faults. Special forms include spectral kurtosis and spectral L2/L1 norm ratio. Experimental investigations showed that these indices characterize impulsiveness effectively, with a fused health index proposed to address issues with impulsive noises.

Adaptive Weighted Signal Preprocessing Technique for Machine Health Monitoring

Bingchang Hou et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an adaptive weighted signal preprocessing technique (AWSPT) to enhance the capabilities of sparsity measures (SMs) for machine health monitoring (MHM). Numerical experiments demonstrate that AWSPT-based SMs can simultaneously detect early bearing and gear faults and provide a monotonic degradation tendency. AWSPT-based SMs are more effective than traditional SMs in selecting an optimal envelope demodulation frequency band.
