MnOx-Electrodeposited Fabric-Based Stretchable Supercapacitors with Intrinsic Strain Sensing

Abhilash Pullanchiyodan et al.

Summary: The research demonstrated a stretchable supercapacitor (SSC) with intrinsic strain sensing, achieved by electrodeposition of nanoflower MnOx on fabric and conductive wrapping of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PE-DOT:PSS). Among the fabricated devices, the stretchable PEDOT:PSS/MnOx/PEDOT:PSS supercapacitor showed the best performance, with high capacitance retention during stretching. The intrinsic strain sensing feature of the SSC was confirmed by the linear variation of capacitance during stretching, and its applications in health monitoring and robotics were demonstrated.
