Porous α-Fe2O3 gas sensor with instantaneous attenuated response toward triethylamine and its reaction kinetics

Hong Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents an ultrasensitive TEA gas sensor based on a porous alpha-Fe2O3 hollow sphere array, capable of high response (75.8) towards 10 ppm TEA at low temperature (160 degrees C) with short response time (2 s) and detection limit of 50 ppb. The sensor exhibits a distinct attenuation characteristic during TEA detection, which is repeatable above a certain operating temperature threshold (>120 degrees C). The attenuated response is found to be independent of gas concentration and humidity, but closely related to specific gases, showing promise for achieving highly selective detection of TEA molecules.

Anchoring Fe2O3 nanosheets on NiO nanoprisms to regulate the electronic properties for improved n-butanol detection

Hongyin Pan et al.

Summary: This study proposes a unique heterostructure of NiO nanoprisms/Fe2O3 nanosheets for n-butanol sensors, which exhibits superior performances. The addition of Fe2O3 changes the conductivity of the NiO sensor, leading to an improved sensor response. The sensor shows good linear response within the concentration range of 0.1-20 ppm n-butanol and achieves a 3-time enhancement in response compared to pure NiO for 4.2-10 ppm n-butanol at 200 degrees C. The NiO/Fe2O3 sensor also demonstrates a lower detection limit compared to NiO.

Morphology-controlled synthesis of ZnSnO3 hollow spheres and their n-butanol gas-sensing performance

Guoqing Feng et al.

Summary: ZnSnO3 hollow spheres were successfully synthesized through mild hydrothermal strategy and annealing process, resulting in a hollowing process and reorganization of particles into hollow structures. The as-fabricated sensors exhibited fast response and high selectivity to n-butanol at lowered optimal temperature of 200 degrees C, making them a potential candidate for n-butanol gas detection. The gas-sensing mechanism of the ZnSnO3 sensor was also investigated.

Gas sensor towards n-butanol at low temperature detection: Hierarchical flower-like Ni-doped Co3O4 based on solvent-dependent synthesis

Pengfei Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical flower-like Ni-doped Co3O4 was successfully synthesized using a facile method, and the effect of ethanol/water ratio on samples was investigated. Gas sensors based on the prepared materials showed excellent performance, with the sensor using 5.3 mol% Ni-doped Co3O4 microflowers exhibiting the highest response towards n-butanol, as well as outstanding anti-humidity properties and long-term stability. The improved gas sensing properties were attributed to the unique hierarchical flower-like microstructure and optimized parameters resulting from the Ni doping.

Highly efficient toluene gas sensor based on spinel structured hollow urchin-like core-shell ZnFe2O4 spheres

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: A facile solvothermal method was employed to synthesize hollow urchin-like core-shell spinel structured ZnO/ZnFe2O4 composite and pure ZnFe2O4 sensing material. Different ratios of Zn to Fe in the precursor resulted in different final components of the products. Gas sensors based on these materials exhibited high gas response to toluene, with the pure ZnFe2O4 sensor showing a lower operating temperature and higher gas response. The sensing mechanism was analyzed in detail in combination with BET and XPS results.

Xiaohai Zheng et al.

Summary: By using a template-free hydrothermal method, porous alpha-Fe2O3/SnO2 composites with hierarchical nanoflower were fabricated to improve the catalytic performance of Fe2O3. The synergistic effect between alpha-Fe2O3 and SnO2 enhances the reducibility of the composites, leading to complete H2S conversion with 100% sulfur selectivity at 220 degrees C for Fe1Sn1. Additionally, the porous structure improves the accessibility of H2S to active sites, resulting in high stability and water resistance for Fe1Sn1 catalyst.
