Review of ultrafast fiber oscillators based on Mamyshev and dissipative soliton resonance mechanisms

Witold Stepien et al.

Summary: This work presents a comparative review of two classes of advanced, ultrafast, fiber lasers: dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) oscillators and Mamyshev oscillators. The working principles, nonlinearity mitigation or exploitation mechanisms, and performance analysis of existing laser systems based on the two classes are discussed. It is found that DSR lasers have higher pulse energies, while Mamyshev oscillators result in shorter pulse durations. Mamyshev oscillators are concluded to perform better in terms of peak power and stability. Suggestions for further improvements are provided.

Dissipative dual-wavelength pulses synchronously mode-locked in a compact fiber laser

Liqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: By exploiting the reflect pulse from the polarization beam splitter, we have successfully achieved synchronously mode-locked dual-wavelength dissipative sub-pulses in a Yb-doped passively mode-locked fiber laser. Numerical simulation and experimental results demonstrate the unique behavior of these dual-wavelength pulses and the ability to control the central wavelengths and interval by adjusting the cavity parameters.

Three states of operation in the net-normal figure-nine fiber laser at 1560 nm

Zbigniew Laszczych et al.

Summary: We conducted an experimental investigation on a figure-nine-based Er-doped all-polarization-maintaining fiber laser and observed three different states of operation depending on the pumping power and the net cavity dispersion values. Our findings show that pulses at the reject port can offer comparable performance to those at the output port in certain operating states.
