Experimental Investigation of Stabilizers of Nanofluid in the Pool Boiling Process

Mohsen Khooshehchin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of pH, surfactant, and ultrasonic waves on reducing nanoparticles' deposition during pool boiling. By determining the optimum parameters, the best conditions for achieving maximum heat transfer coefficient were found. Ultrasonic irradiation played a significant role in improving heat transfer coefficient, and atomic force microscopy analysis confirmed the correlation between variations in heat transfer coefficient and sedimentation.

Enhancement of critical heat flux (CHF) in pool boiling with anodized copper surfaces

Atul Ranjan et al.

Summary: This study reports the creation of Cu(OH)2 nanoneedles on a copper surface using an anodization process, which can enhance critical heat flux (CHF) limit in pool boiling applications by improving surface wettability and wickability. Results show that the anodized surface requires higher wall superheat for nucleation and exhibits a higher CHF value compared to the plain surface.

Bubble Dynamics and Enhancement of Pool Boiling in Presence of an Idealized Porous Medium: A Numerical Study Using Lattice Boltzmann Method

Kaushik Mondal et al.

Summary: This paper presents a study on the enhancement of pool boiling heat transfer inside an array of solid pillars with square cross section using the lattice Boltzmann method. The entire boiling curve and the effect of the solid pillar array are numerically obtained. The study shows that the presence of the solid pillar array lowers the surface superheat required for boiling incipience and delays the onset of film boiling.

Thermal interactions between nucleation sites and the solid wall during pool boiling of a pure fluid: A review

A. Marie et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the coupling effects between thermal conduction and vapor bubble growth in saturated pure liquids within heated walls. It summarizes numerical and experimental investigations on single-site nucleation coupled with solid conduction, highlighting the significance of wall thermal diffusivity on bubble nucleation and inhibition. It also discusses the link between temperature drop beneath a growing bubble and the vaporization of a liquid micro-layer. Furthermore, the paper details and compares the conclusions raised by existing literature on multi-site boiling configurations, emphasizing the difficulty in predicting the interaction range based on wall thermal properties.

Numerical study on the behavior of vapor bubbles during boiling with surface acoustic wave (SAW)

Dong-Sheng Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamic mechanism of vapor bubble during boiling process under the effect of acoustic field was numerically investigated. It was found that the acoustic field has an influence on bubble behaviors, creating tiny vortices at the root of the bubble and causing one bubble to collapse into two separate bubbles. Furthermore, the acoustic field can break the growing bubbles and promote flow boiling heat transfer.

Heat transfer enhancement in pool boiling and condensation using h-BN/DCM and SiO2/DCM nanofluids: experimental and numerical comparison

Erdem Ciftci et al.

Summary: By adding nanoparticles to the base fluid, the thermal characteristics of the fluid were significantly increased. Experimental results showed that the heat transfer coefficient of h-BN/DCM nanofluid increased by 27.59%, 14.44%, and 15% for saturation boiling, after-saturation boiling, and condensation processes, respectively. This study provides a novel comparison of the effects of different nanoparticles on heat transfer for boiling-condensation processes with dichloromethane (DCM) fluid.
