Risk prediction of atrial fibrillation in the community combining biomarkers and genetics

Christin S. Boerschel et al.

Summary: The study found that the polygenic risk score (PRS) and the established biomarker NT-proBNP have comparable predictive ability for atrial fibrillation (AF), providing incremental predictive value over standard clinical variables. Further improvements for the PRS are likely with the discovery of additional single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).

Identification of key immune-related genes and immune infiltration in atrial fibrillation with valvular heart disease based on bioinformatics analysis

Shuo Li et al.

Summary: Through bioinformatics analysis, this study identified 130 differentially expressed immune-related genes (DEIRGs) that play crucial roles in immune and inflammatory responses. Immune infiltration analysis revealed that LA tissues from AF-VHD patients have higher levels of gamma delta T cells but lower levels of CD8 and regulatory T cells compared to SR patients. Key DEIRGs showed correlations with various infiltrating immune cells, indicating their involvement in the immune response in AF-VHD pathogenesis.
