Association of the Affordable Care Act with access to highest-volume centers for patients with thyroid cancer

Summary: Disparities exist in access to high-volume surgeons for thyroid cancer patients, with Medicaid patients more likely to be treated at high-volume hospitals. The Affordable Care Act's impact on Medicaid patients' access to high-volume surgery centers is unclear. After the ACA expansion, Medicaid patients had lower odds of surgery at high-volume hospitals in expansion states, but higher odds in nonexpansion states. The ACA implementation increased the proportion of Medicaid patients in all quartiles, leading to increased access to high-volume centers in expansion states.

Pathways to ovarian cancer diagnosis: a qualitative study

Preventive Medication Use among Adults Aged 40 and over in the United States: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2015-2018

Summary: This study estimated the prevalence of preventive medication use among adults in the US and identified the factors associated with its use. The results showed that 31% of the participants used preventive medication, with aspirin being the most commonly used. Uninsured individuals were less likely to use preventive medication, while older adults and those with certain chronic conditions were more likely to use it. Additionally, current smokers were less likely to use preventive medication compared to past smokers and those who never smoked.
