Metabolic syndrome and the risk of cardiovascular complications in young patients with different phenotypes of polycystic ovary syndrome

Summary: Insulin resistance is a key factor in the development of PCOS, which is associated with increased risk of MetS and cardiovascular complications. IMT and FMD did not differ significantly between PCOS patients and controls, but PCOS patients with MetS showed lower FMD values. Metabolic disturbances and MetS in PCOS patients, particularly in hyperandrogenic phenotypes, may be linked to changes in IMT and FMD.
