Sci-Net: scale-invariant model for buildings segmentation from aerial imagery

Hasan Nasrallah et al.

Summary: Building segmentation is a fundamental task in the field of earth observation and aerial imagery analysis. Existing deep learning methods are usually limited to fixed or narrow-range spatial resolution images, leading to performance degradation when applied to different resolutions. To address this challenge, we propose a scale-invariant neural network (Sci-Net) architecture that can accurately segment buildings from wide-range spatial resolution aerial images. Experimental results show that Sci-Net consistently outperforms state-of-the-art models across different spatial resolutions on two benchmark datasets.

Automatic building footprint extraction from very high-resolution imagery using deep learning techniques

Kriti Rastogi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel CNN architecture named UNet-AP for automatic extraction of building footprint from very-high resolution satellite imagery. The performance of UNet-AP is compared with baseline implementation of UNet and SegNet, and it is demonstrated that UNet-AP outperforms them in terms of overall mean intersection over union.
