Novel DNA methylation marker discovery by assumption-free genome-wide association analysis of cognitive function in twins

Afsaneh Mohammadnejad et al.

Summary: Utilizing the generalized correlation coefficient (GCC), this study compared it with linear models to uncover DNA methylation patterns related to cognitive aging. The findings identified various CpG sites and genes associated with cognitive function, as well as highlighted the involvement of neurological pathways in cognitive performance and aging.

Differential lncRNA expression profiling of cognitive function in middle and old aged monozygotic twins using generalized association analysis

Afsaneh Mohammadnejad et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) expression and lncRNA-mRNA interaction networks in cognitive function, analyzing lncRNA expression in whole blood samples of 400 monozygotic twins. The study identified 20 lncRNA probes associated with cognitive function and revealed diverse patterns of association between lncRNAs and cognitive performance. Significant pathways related to cognition were detected through the novel lncRNA regulatory network.

Global Gene Expression Profiling and Transcription Factor Network Analysis of Cognitive Aging in Monozygotic Twins

Afsaneh Mohammadnejad et al.

Summary: The study conducted global gene expression profiling of cognitive function in monozygotic twins and identified important genes and pathways related to cognitive performance, cognitive aging, and neurological diseases. The results showed downregulation of most genes with increasing cognitive function, except for one that was upregulated. Additionally, the regulatory network analysis revealed significant activated and repressed regulons on cognitive function.
