Summary: Despite potential benefits for maternal and infant outcomes, the meta-analysis concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support the effectiveness of n-3 PUFA supplementation in preventing or treating perinatal depression. Additionally, the efficacy of n-3 PUFA supplementation was not influenced by the daily doses of DHA, EPA, or a combination of both.
