Investigation of clomazone-tolerance mechanism in a long-grain cultivar of rice

Feng Guo et al.

Summary: The long-grain cultivar Kasalath exhibited approximately five-fold higher tolerance to clomazone compared to short-grain cultivars Nipponbare and Koshihikari, suggesting involvement of multiple loci in clomazone tolerance. Chromosome segment substitution lines of Nipponbare/Kasalath and Koshihikari/Kasalath showed partial tolerance to clomazone, indicating a potential genetic basis for developing clomazone-tolerant short-grain cultivars.

Occurrence, spatiotemporal distribution, and risk assessment of current-use pesticides in surface water: A case study near Taihu Lake, China

Tielong Wang et al.

Summary: This study conducted monitoring and risk assessment of current-use pesticides in surface water from the northwestern section of the Taihu Lake Basin in China in 2019. A total of 114 pesticides were detected, with significantly higher number and concentration of pesticides in the wet season compared to the dry season, and more contamination observed in agricultural areas than residential and industrial areas.

Heterologous expression of CYP81A6 from rice (Oryza sativa) in Escherichia coli and structural analyses of bensulfuron-methyl metabolites

Takuya Yamaguchi et al.

Summary: Herbicides are often selective, with CYP81A6 in rice playing a key role in tolerance towards acetolactate synthase herbicides such as bensulfuron-methyl. Through heterologous expression in E. coli, it was confirmed that CYP81A6 catalyzes the formation of O-demethylated BSM from BSM, enhancing rice tolerance towards the herbicide.
