Creating poly(lactic acid)/carbon nanotubes/carbon black nanocomposites with high electrical conductivity and good mechanical properties by constructing a segregated double network with a low content of hybrid nanofiller

Tairong Kuang et al.

Summary: In this study, conductive biodegradable polymer composites were prepared by melt blending poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with one-dimensional carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The addition of CNTs improved the electrical conductivity of the polymer matrix, but it also decreased its mechanical properties. However, when carbon black (CB) was mechanically mixed with PLA/CNTs, a segregated double filler network structure was formed, resulting in PLA nanocomposites with high electrical conductivity and good mechanical properties at low filler content.

Tunable negative dielectric properties of magnetic CoFe2O4/graphite-polypyrrole metacomposites

Jiang Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, CoFe2O4/graphite-polypyrrole (PPy) metacomposites with negative dielectric constant were successfully prepared using the surface-initiated-polymerization method. The negative dielectric constant was regulated by changing the content of CoFe2O4/graphite. The crystal structure, chemical structure, and microstructure of the samples were characterized, and the magnetic properties were reported. This work provides guidance for the fabrication of polymer-based metacomposites with tunable negative dielectric constant.

Haoran Cheng et al.

Summary: The study prepared ultrathin flexible poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composite films with MXenes and silver nanowires (AgNWs) through a solution casting method, showing enhanced electrical and thermal conductivity as well as EMI shielding compared to PVDF/MXene and PVDF/AgNW films. The main EMI shielding mechanism is absorption, and possible synergistic mechanisms for enhancing EMI shielding and mechanical performance are discussed. This work provides a promising solution for EMI shielding challenges in modern smaller wearable devices.
