Fabrication of Al2O3/CaO with anti-sintering for efficient removal of As2O3 in simulated flue gas: Experimental and DFT study

Jiandong Hong et al.

Summary: In this study, an anti-sintering Al2O3/CaO sorbent was synthesized and applied for the adsorption of As2O3, showing improved performance compared to untreated CaO due to enhanced anti-sintering ability with the addition of Al2O3. The adsorption mechanism of As2O3 on Al2O3/CaO was proposed based on experimental and theoretical analysis, with the Al site identified as the main adsorption active site and electron transfer channel.

Analysis of Electrode Configuration Effects on Mass Transfer and Organic Redox Flow Battery Performance

Fengming Chu et al.

Summary: This study establishes a three-dimensional numerical model for organic redox flow batteries (ORFBs) and investigates the influence of different electrode configurations on battery performance. The results show that the sector electrode has the best mass transfer and battery performance, followed by the trapezoidal electrode. The optimal parameters for the rectangular and trapezoidal electrodes are also determined.

Research progress on selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts for NOx removal from coal-fired flue gas

Shilin Zhao et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively discusses SCR catalysts with different supports, including their preparation method, composition, deNOx ability, etc. The findings show that metal-based SCR catalysts have good performance in both high and low-temperature deNOx, carbon material as a carrier can enhance deNOx ability, and minerals-based SCR catalysts have good deNOx capacity at medium to low temperature. The good distribution of active elements, chemical adsorption, acid sites, and surface pore structure are crucial for the deNOx ability of catalysts.

Mechanism of the Heterogeneous Reduction of NO on a Sodium-Doped Char Surface: A First-Principles Study

Jiancheng Yang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the effect of sodium on the reaction path of char heterogeneous reduction of NO based on first-principles study, revealing that sodium atoms can lower the energy barriers of reduction reactions and change the reaction from nonspontaneous to spontaneous. The study also showed that the reactivity of the zigzag model is better than that of the armchair model and improved the mechanism of char heterogeneous reduction of NO.

Controlling NOx emission from boilers using waste polyethylene as reburning fuel

Ibukun Oluwoye et al.

Summary: Waste plastics, particularly polyethylene, can serve as a reburning fuel to convert nitrogen oxides (NOx) into environmentally-benign combustion products in practical large-scale combustors. Experimental results show that waste plastics have good conversion efficiency and selectivity for NOx, with potential for further improvement through increased residence time.
