Hierarchical HZSM-5 for Catalytic Cracking of Oleic Acid to Biofuels

Mahashanon Arumugam et al.

Summary: This study presents the synthesis and application of hierarchical HZSM-5 (h-HZSM-5) catalyst with mesoporous structure, which significantly increases the yield of diesel range hydrocarbons obtained from waste oil-derived fatty acid cracking. The introduction of mesopores through silanization treatment of pre-crystallized zeolite seeds improves the accessibility of acid sites within the hierarchical network, leading to enhanced catalytic performance.

Coke deactivation and regeneration of HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts in the oligomerization of 1-butene

Marta Diaz et al.

Summary: The deactivation of HZSM-5 catalysts in 1-butene oligomerization is mainly caused by the confinement of oligomers (soft coke) in the catalyst matrix. Soft coke is removed at 400 degrees C by TPS-N-2, while hard coke is removed by combustion. Two types of hard coke are distinguished, with the fraction located in zeolite micropores being more refractory to combustion.

Synthesis and catalytic application of nanorod-like FER-type zeolites

Weijiong Dai et al.

Summary: The direct synthesis route was used to obtain nanorod-like FER zeolite with reduced diffusion path and superior physicochemical properties. The nanorod-like FER zeolite showed high selectivity and low deactivation rates in 1-butene skeletal isomerization, as well as better coke tolerance and enhanced catalytic activity and stability compared to micron-sized counterparts.

High-throughput development of highly active catalyst system to convert bioethanol to 1,3-butadiene

Yu Shinke et al.

Summary: In this study, highly active catalysts for converting ethanol to 1,3-butadiene were developed using high-throughput catalyst preparation and evaluation systems. Rapid screening for optimal catalysts in a two-stage reactor resulted in high 1,3-butadiene productivity with the use of Ag/SiO2 and HfO2/SiO2 as catalysts in the first- and second-stage reactors, respectively.
