Ni-Ru-MgO catalyst with high activity and stability for methanation of syngas and producer gas

Tinku Baidya et al.

Summary: This study investigated a new catalyst composition comprised of Ni, Ru, and MgO to improve the methanation performance of sub-stoichiometric H2/CO-ratio producer gas from biomass gasification. The addition of Ru and MgO promoters optimized the catalytic activity and stability of the Ni catalyst. MgO enhanced the methanation activity, while Ru was responsible for improved catalytic stability in low H2/CO-ratio feed gas. The Ni-Ru-Mg catalyst showed higher stability compared to a commercial catalyst.

Syngas Characteristics From Catalytic Gasification of Polystyrene and Pinewood in CO2 Atmosphere

Xuan Liu et al.

Summary: Catalytic gasification of polystyrene and pinewood in CO2 atmosphere using Ni-Mg/Al2O3 catalyst showed enhanced syngas production with increased H2, CO, CH4, and C2-C3 yields. The catalyst promoted cracking of pyrolytic vapors and assisted in reforming benzene derivatives, leading to improvements in syngas composition. Catalytic gasification resulted in higher cold gas efficiency and shows promise for efficient energy production from waste plastics and biomass while utilizing CO2.

Numerical study on characteristics of biomass oxygen enriched gasification in the new gasifier on an experimental basis

Lijun Wang et al.

Summary: This paper studied the integrated characteristics of a fluidized bed combining a distributed entrained flow bed in a new reactor, and the oxygen enriched gasification performance of biomass in the integrated reactor numerically based on experiments. The results show that oxygen-carbon mass ratio and oxygen concentration of gasification agent significantly affect the syngas composition in the integrated reactor.

Hydrogen-rich syngas produced from co-gasification of municipal solid waste and wheat straw in an oxygen-enriched air fluidized bed

Jun Zhao et al.

Summary: Gasification of biomass and waste in an oxygen-rich atmosphere is an economical method for hydrogen production, with increased oxygen concentration leading to higher hydrogen concentration and calorific value in the syngas. Controlling parameters such as air flow rate and oxygen concentration can help optimize hydrogen production during the gasification process.

Simulation of a new biomass integrated gasification combined cycle (BIGCC) power generation system using Aspen Plus: Performance analysis and energetic assessment

Miaomiao Niu et al.

Summary: A new BIGCC system with two-stage enriched air gasification was proposed for efficient biomass utilization. Parameters such as oxygen percentage and gasification temperature were optimized to improve syngas quality and power generation efficiency. Proper excess air ratio and compressor pressure ratio are crucial for maintaining gas turbine temperatures for efficient operation.

Gasification of biomass using oxygen-enriched air as gasification agent: a simulation study

Wentao Liu et al.

Summary: A steady-state Aspen Plus model was used to study biomass gasification using air as gasification agent. The model accurately predicted product yield, gasifier performance, and syngas composition, with effects of temperature and oxygen content on gasification characteristics discussed. Higher oxygen ratio was found to lead to higher H-2 production and lower tar yield.
