Morphological and nanostructure characteristics of soot particles emitted from a jet-stirred reactor burning aviation fuel

Xuehuan Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of soot particles emitted from a Jet-Stirred Reactor under different combustion conditions. It was found that combustion pressure, fuel flow rate, and inlet air temperature significantly affected the morphology and size of the soot particles. Additionally, nanostructure parameters such as soot fringe length and fringe tortuosity were found to be strongly dependent upon residence time and inlet air temperature.

Experimental and numerical study on the laminar flame characteristics for PODE3 and PODE3/iso-octane blends under elevated and sub-ambient initial pressures

Jianshu Mao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the combustion characteristics and flame instability of Polyoxymethylene dimethyl ether (PODEn) as a diesel substitute fuel through experiments and numerical simulations. The results showed that the laminar burning speed of PODE3 decreased with initial pressure, and the laminar burning speed of PODE3/iso-octane blends was linearly related to the PODE3 volume fractions. In addition, PODE3 exhibited improved flame stability, and flame instability decreased with increased PODE3 volume fractions but increased with increased initial pressure and equivalence ratio.

Effects of carbon dioxide on the combustion characteristics of the laminar premixed n-heptane/air flames at elevated pressures

Wenlong Dong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the laminar combustion characteristics of n-heptane flames with carbon dioxide addition. The results indicate that CO2 inhibits the combustion process primarily through effects on laminar burning velocity, adiabatic flame temperature, and intermediate product formation. Physical effects play a significant role in inhibiting heat release and promoting temperature.
