Fuel-reforming effects on a gasoline direct injection engine under a low-temperature combustion mode: Experimental and kinetics analyses

Ratnak Sok et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of injection parameters and in-cylinder fuel reforming on a gasoline direction injection (GDI) engine operated under low-temperature combustion mode. The results show that adjusting the start of injection timing and mixture equivalence ratios can significantly improve the combustion efficiency and emissions performance of the engine.

Experimental investigation to assess the efficacy of gasoline surrogates with engine testing

Vishal Patil et al.

Summary: The formulation of effective gasoline surrogates is a challenging task. This study investigates a new approach of proposing the next generation gasoline surrogates through direct testing in a real SI engine. The results show that two of the tested surrogates closely resemble commercial gasoline fuels and can be used for modeling IC engines.

An evaluation based on energy and exergy analyses in SI engine fueled with waste bread bioethanol-gasoline blends

Bahar Sayin Kul et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the operation of an SI engine powered by blended bioethanol and gasoline through energy and exergy analyses. It was found that the addition of bioethanol generally decreased energy loss rate, exergy loss rate, and exergy destruction rate. While waste bread bioethanol did not perform as well as sugar beet bioethanol in terms of thermal efficiency and exergetic efficiency, both bioethanol types improved efficiency compared to gasoline.
