Catalytic hydrothermal liquefaction of alkali lignin over activated bio-char supported bimetallic catalyst

Bijoy Biswas et al.

Summary: Carbon-based support catalysts play a crucial role in optimizing the hydrothermal liquefaction of alkali lignin, leading to increased bio-oil yield through efficient depolymerization. The use of ethanol solvent system, higher reaction temperatures, and increased catalyst quantities results in enhanced conversion and selectivity towards vanillin.

Effects of solid base catalysts on depolymerization of alkali lignin for the production of phenolic monomer compounds

Bijoy Biswas et al.

Summary: Different solid base catalysts were used for the depolymerization of alkali lignin, with CaO/ZrO2 and CaO/CeO2 catalysts yielding the highest bio-oil production when using ethanol and methanol solvents. Noncatalytic reactions and support catalysts resulted in lower bio-oil yields. Bio-oil analysis revealed vanillin as the main product, with solid base catalysts enhancing cleavage reactions and increasing bio-oil yield.

Catalytic hydrothermal liquefaction of lignin over carbon nanotube supported metal catalysts for production of monomeric phenols

Pengfei Jia et al.

Summary: The catalytic hydrothermal liquefaction of lignin using different metal supported on carbon nanotube showed that bio-oil yield significantly increased under alcoholic solvents compared to water. As the reaction temperature increased, there was an increase in lignin conversion, with the highest bio-oil yield found with 10% Co/CNT catalyst using an ethanol solvent system at 280 degrees C.
