Validation of the QuEChERSER mega-method for the analysis of pesticides, veterinary drugs, and environmental contaminants in tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus)

Sergio H. Monteiro et al.

Summary: This study presents a high-throughput mega-method for residue analysis of pesticides, veterinary drugs, and environmental contaminants in tilapia muscle. The method combines ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) and fast low-pressure gas chromatography (LPGC) MS/MS techniques to monitor a wide range of analytes. The validation results demonstrate that this mega-method is efficient and effective for routine laboratory analyses.

Summary: An analytical program has been developed and validated for multiclass, multiresidue residue analysis of veterinary drug compounds in game meats using LC-MS/MS. The method was found to accurately detect 112 veterinary drug residues in muscle samples with an average accuracy ranging from 95.6% to 101%, and can also be used as a qualitative screening method.

Summary: This study developed and validated a new method for simultaneous determination of a wide range of veterinary drugs, pesticides, and PCBs in fish, below regulatory levels. The method, named QuEChERSER, was successfully validated for 98% of veterinary drugs and their metabolites, and 91% of pesticides, metabolites, and PCBs, demonstrating its applicability for regulatory monitoring and other purposes in fish analysis.

Summary: A new mega-method of sample preparation, QuEChERSER, was presented for efficient analysis of chemical contaminants in meat. The method allows for high-throughput residual analysis of pesticides, veterinary drugs, metabolites, and legacy environmental contaminants in bovine muscle, demonstrating high accuracy and efficiency compared to traditional methods.
