A high-stable soybean-oil-based epoxy acrylate emulsion stabilized by silanized nanocrystalline cellulose as a sustainable paper coating for enhanced water vapor barrier

Xuwang Tian et al.

Summary: This study successfully achieved a stable dispersion of acrylated epoxidized soybean oil (AESO) in water by using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) modified nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC), which synergistically improved the water vapor barrier properties of paper after coating. APTES-NCC exhibited better interface compatibility with AESO, improved hydrophobicity and wettability, and acted as an effective emulsifier. The resulting APTES-NCC/AESO emulsion coated on paper reduced the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) significantly.

Multiplex planar bioassay with reduced diffusion on normal phase, identifying androgens, verified antiandrogens and synergists in botanicals via 12D hyphenation

T. Schreiner et al.

Summary: Hormonal active compounds in food can have an impact on health. The planar yeast antagonist androgen screen (pYAAS) bioassay is an effective tool for detecting these compounds in complex samples. The use of a new coating and improved workflow has enhanced the sensitivity and accuracy of the detection.

Organophosphite Antioxidants in Mulch Films Are Important Sources of Organophosphate Pollutants in Farmlands

Xinying Gong et al.

Summary: The study found that organophosphite antioxidants and organophosphate esters were present in farmland soils, with the oxidation derivatives potentially being important contaminants. Mulch films were identified as a potential source for these compounds, with oxidative derivatives of OPAs being more prevalent in soils compared to commercial OPEs.

Non-target bioanalytical eight-dimensional hyphenation including bioassay, heart-cut trapping, online desalting, orthogonal separations and mass spectrometry

Tamara Schreiner et al.

Summary: The challenge of identifying individual bioactive compounds in complex mixtures can be addressed by the development of an eight-dimensional hyphenation technique. This technique combines multiple separation and detection methods to efficiently analyze samples and identify bioactive compounds. The use of online analyte trapping, desalting, and multiple detection steps allows for high-throughput screening of complex samples for individual bioactive compounds.
