Hepatic metabolism-related effects of polysaccharides from red kidney bean and small black soybean on type 2 diabetes

Zhouya Bai et al.

Summary: This study further investigated the protective effect on hepatic dysfunction of crude polysaccharides from red kidney bean and small black soybean in type 2 diabetic mice. The results showed that both crude polysaccharides had a protective effect. In addition, the study identified that the polysaccharide was the biofunctional component basis in the crude extracts. Further research on purified polysaccharides revealed their regulating mechanism on hepatic metabolism and lipid metabolism.

Polysaccharides isolated from Laminaria japonica attenuates gestational diabetes mellitus by regulating the gut microbiota in mice

Huiting Lin et al.

Summary: The study showed that polysaccharides from Laminaria japonica have beneficial effects on gestational diabetes mellitus mice, potentially through altering gut microbiota, with the up-regulation of short-chain fatty acids-producing bacterium Turicibacter being a key factor. This indicates the potential of LP to serve as a prebiotic and food supplementation for GDM patients.
