Composites of cellulose nanocrystals in combination with either cellulose nanofibril or carboxymethylcellulose as functional packaging films

Julia Fernandez-Santos et al.

Summary: This study mixed cellulose nanocrystals with cellulose nanofibril or carboxymethylcellulose to obtain cast films that can replace food packaging plastics. Both nanofibril and carboxymethylcellulose improved the physical properties and gas permeability of the films, especially at high humidity levels. Food packaging simulation tests confirmed that the films containing carboxymethylcellulose performed the best, and these composite films are biodegradable.

Distance for Communication between Metal and Acid Sites for Syngas Conversion

Yubing Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the influence of distance between metal and acid sites on the effectiveness of reactions in a methanol-mediated syngas conversion system was evaluated. The distance requirements depend on the diffusivity of reaction intermediates and the formation mechanism of products. In the syngas to aromatics reaction, the intimate contact of metal and acid sites is necessary to eliminate surface hydrogen species.
