Effects of ultrasound on the thawing of quick-frozen small yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactis) based on TMT-labeled quantitative proteomic

Yao-Yao Wang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of dual-frequency sequential ultrasonic thawing on the quality of quick-frozen small yellow croaker using a TMT-labeled quantitative proteomic method. The results identified differentially abundant proteins in the fish meat treated with DUT, with enrichment in enzyme pathways. Correlation analyses revealed potential protein markers related to quality traits in thawed small yellow croaker. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the quality stability of quick-frozen small yellow croaker treated with DUT.

Determination of the optimal electron beam irradiation dose for treating shrimp (Solenocera melantho) by means of physical and chemical properties and bacterial communities

Qi Yu et al.

Summary: The study found that the effect of radiation on S. melantho is dose-dependent, with higher doses leading to increased bactericidal effects. Irradiated samples showed significant changes in bacterial community structure, but no significant effect on pH value. A radiation dose of 6 kGy was considered the most suitable treatment, providing a theoretical basis for production and processing.

Changes in quality characteristics of shrimp (Penaeus chinensis) during refrigerated storage and their correlation with protein degradation

Wenya Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, the protein degradation and quality loss of shrimp during refrigerated storage were assessed, and the correlation between quality characteristics and protein degradation was elucidated using BP-ANN models. The results showed that various protein characteristics and quality indicators of shrimp changed with storage time. The establishment of BP-ANN models demonstrated a high correlation between protein degradation and shrimp loss.

Proteomic analysis and biochemical alterations in marine mussel gills after exposure to the organophosphate flame retardant TDCPP

Paula Sanchez-Marin et al.

Summary: Organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) are increasingly used environmental pollutants due to restrictions on other flame retardants. Among them, the chlorinated OPFR tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCPP) is of high environmental concern. Exposure of marine mussels to TDCPP for 28 days showed fast uptake and elimination, inhibition of AChE activity, and minimal proteomic effects in gills, with exposure time being the primary driver of protein abundance changes.

Insights into the similarities and differences of whiteleg shrimp pre-soaked with sodium tripolyphosphate and sodium trimetaphosphate during frozen storage

Xiao-guo Ying et al.

Summary: The study found differences in the effects of pre-soaking with STMP and STPP on shrimp muscle proteins, with STMP showing better cryoprotective effects and enhancing the resistance of cytoskeleton proteins to cold-temperature stress. The incorporation of STMP molecules led to upregulated expression of specific proteins related to ribosomal, actin, heat shock, myosin, and tubulin functions.

Tubulin polyglutamylation, a regulator of microtubule functions, can cause neurodegeneration

Satish Bodakuntla et al.

Summary: Neurodegenerative diseases result in progressive neuronal dysfunction and death. Dysfunctions of the microtubule cytoskeleton are common features of these diseases. Posttranslational modifications of tubulin, such as polyglutamylation, may play a role in neuronal dysfunction and degeneration.

Protein changes in shrimp (Metapenaeus ensis) frozen stored at different temperatures and the relation to water-holding capacity

Wenna Ji et al.

Summary: Research on the effects of freezing temperature on muscle proteins in shrimp showed that freezing at -18 degrees Celsius resulted in more severe protein denaturation and poorer muscle quality compared to freezing at -60 degrees Celsius. Proteomics analysis revealed differentially abundant proteins and changes in protein characteristics, highlighting the impact of freezing temperature on shrimp quality.

Differential Proteomics Analysis of Penaeus vannamei Muscles with Quality Characteristics by TMT Quantitative Proteomics during Low-Temperature Storage

Shengnan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, tandem mass tag technology was used to investigate the relationship between proteome changes and quality characteristics of Penaeus vannamei (PNVN) muscles during low-temperature storage. A total of 506 differentially expressed proteins were identified, with nine proteins significantly correlated with quality characteristics and most proteins involved in binding, metabolic enzymes, and protein turnover. These findings provide insights into the proteome changes and mechanisms of quality decline in PNVN muscles during low-temperature storage.
