Determination of mycotoxins by HPLC, LC-MS/MS and health risk assessment of the mycotoxins in bee products of Turkey

Eda Keskin et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the levels of mycotoxins in bee products available in Turkey and assess their potential health risks. The most common mycotoxins found in all bee products were DON and T-2 toxin, and it was determined that consuming specified amounts of these mycotoxins through bee products does not pose a risk to health.

Simultaneous determination of trichothecene mycotoxins in cereals by LC-MS/MS

Dan-Bi Kim et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine residual trichothecene mycotoxins in cereal samples and successfully applied the methodology to monitor 100 cereal samples from a Korean market. The study found that some bean samples were co-contaminated with deoxynivalenol and HT-2 toxin, with deoxynivalenol being the most frequently detected and highest in amount among the trichothecene mycotoxins.

Immunochromatographic assays based on three kinds of nanoparticles for the rapid and highly sensitive detection of tylosin and tilmicosin in eggs

Zhiwei Liu et al.

Summary: This study proposes three different immunochromatographic assay methods based on colloidal gold, latex microsphere, and time-resolved fluorescent microsphere for the highly sensitive and rapid detection of tylosin and tilmicosin in eggs. These methods can tolerate the egg matrix and demonstrate high sensitivity for the two antibiotics. Through a single-blind parallel study, the three developed ICAs show good consistency with no false positive or false negative results.

Identification and Safety Evaluation of Ochratoxin A Transformation Product in Rapeseed Oil Refining Process

Tianying Lu et al.

Summary: OTA can be effectively removed during edible oil refinement, but a portion of it can transfer to byproducts. During the deacidification stage, OTA transforms into toxic OP-OTA. Therefore, the safety of soap stock processed from OTA-contaminated rapeseed deserves attention.

Quantum dot nanobead immunochromatographic assay based on bispecific monoclonal antibody for the simultaneous detection of aflatoxin B1 and amantadine

Kezhuo Zhang et al.

Summary: A bispecific monoclonal antibody (BsMAb) that can recognize both AFB(1) and AMD was prepared, and a QB-ICA assay based on BsMAb was developed for simultaneous detection of AFB(1) and AMD in feed samples. The QB-ICA assay showed high reliability and specificity, with LOD values and recovery rates within acceptable ranges. This method provides a platform for simultaneous detection of hazardous substances.

Mycotoxin reduction through lactic acid fermentation: Evidence from commercial ogi processors in southwest Nigeria

Oluwatoyin Ademola et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using traditional food processing methods to reduce mycotoxins in commercial processing plants in Nigeria, particularly aflatoxin and fumonisin commonly found in maize and nuts. Lactic acid fermentation significantly reduces fumonisin levels in maize, which could potentially benefit Nigerian children who consume ogi as a weaning food. However, further investigation is needed to determine the ultimate fate of these toxins before recommending it as a public health intervention.
