Optimization of potassium (K+) supplementation for growth enhancement of Spinacia oleracea L. and Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) in an aquaponic system

Venisza Cathy John et al.

Summary: A 60-day experimental trial was conducted to investigate the effect of different dosages of potassium supplementation on Spinacia oleracea L. and Pangasianodon hypophthalmus in an aquaponic system. The study found that potassium supplementation had a significant effect on the yield of spinach, with the optimum dosage recommended as 150 mg l-1 K+ in the P. hypophthalmus-Spinacia oleracea L. aquaponic system.

A 20-year retrospective review of global aquaculture

Rosamond L. Naylor et al.

Summary: The sustainability of aquaculture has been intensely debated since 2000, with major contributions coming from inland aquaculture in Asia. There have been significant advances in feed efficiency and fish nutrition, but reliance on marine ingredients remains a challenge. Molluscs and seaweed have potential for ecosystem services and global nutritional security, but their quantification, valuation, and market development are still underexploited.

Effects of Essential Oil Derived from the Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium) on Growth Performance, Histology and Gene Expression Levels in Common Carp Juveniles (Cyprinus carpio)

Umit Acar et al.

Summary: The study revealed that low-dose Citrus aurantium essential oil supplementation increased immune-related and growth-related gene expression levels in common carp, while high doses led to pathological findings in the liver and intestines. Additionally, supplementation of up to 0.25% of the essential oil improved growth efficiency and gene expression levels related to muscle growth and immune status in the fish.
